Me and my Computer
Disclaimer: While I strive to use these AI tools responsibly, I will not vouch for the accuracy or sanity of their responses, only the validity and usefulness they have provided to me. Always use your own judgment and consult reliable sources (like, you know, actual experts).
So here is the rambling story
When it comes to using AI in my day-to-day, I stick with the big name AI powerhouses, using them with varying frequency. Leading the charge is the mighty ChatGPT, Gemini. Next in line are Meta AI, Microsoft Copilot (distinct from its GitHub sibling), and the newest addition, Grok.
These digital wizards have been instrumental in a variety of tasks, from the mundane to the truly bizarre. I've enlisted their aid in:
* Crafting the very code that powers this blog, and debugging a mess between building it as a Blazor WebAssembly and Blazor server.
* Proofreading my ramblings and, dare I say, injecting a touch of humor....are you laughing, a little bit?.
* Unraveling the mysteries of potato-boiling foam, a question that has plagued humanity for centuries.
* Brainstorming novel ideas which remains frustratingly difficult to move to completion.
* Searching for books by thematic elements.
* Deciphering the convoluted labyrinth of American politics (a task that even the most seasoned political scientist would find daunting).
* Reformatting structured data.
* Investigating China's influence (or lack thereof) on the Panama Canal which I am sure will spark lively debate.
* Understanding the arcane world of land ownership, including those pesky encumbrances and easements (particularly those related to grazing rights, a topic not even on my radar as important).
A Not-So Summary Summary
ChatGPT reigns top choice as my go-to for all things engineering (aka coding). Gemini, on the other hand, is better at informational queries, like the aforementioned potato foam conundrum. While ChatGPT and Gemini often respond similarly, their responses sometimes diverge, offering unique perspectives and enriching my understanding or my confusion, depending on the time of day.
Grok is the new kid on the block, and I’m still figuring out where it fits. One thing is clear: it’s the class clown. Its sense of humor is unmatched among the engines I’ve tried, and I’m excited to see how it evolves. Who doesn’t love an AI that can make you laugh while fixing your code?
MetAI has not done much for me. Neither has Microsoft Copilot, although it has done much better with movie recommendations. But, perhaps I have a bit of AI overload, already.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more work to do with these engines. No joke here: one of these engines gave me the idea of how I could use as Rasberry PI to power my keurig so I have coffe ready once I find some pants. Stay tuned for updates!
