Digital thoughts from a seasoned programmer About

Generalization != Quality

By Matt Raffel on January 09, 2026

Recently, there's been a lot of chatter on some social media talking about the quality of software.   Or maybe the algorithms just decided its time for me to see it.

This fits with a lot of what I have been writing about as well.  Again, did the algorithms pick up on this? ;)

Anyways, I have responded in so many words with comments like this:

We’ve trimmed engineering teams to the point every engineer is the product owner, architect, dba, front end engineer, backend engineer, SDET, dev ops engineer, qa, release manager and support…..I do not know of any other field in the cognitive work spaces that puts so many different demands on one individual than software engineering does. Throw in the constant mantra of "get it done faster".....quality is the price paid for all of this....

It is amazing how many people resonate with this statement.  Maybe it is time for C-Suite to listen.....

Just a thought....
